5:48 pm
digits. so what i'm saying is to enjoy this, okay? 41 degrees here in the city. it's cooler for gaithersburg. 36 there. 37 up to frederick and 34 for hagerstown. okay, look, pittsburgh, 24. columbus is 19 degrees. detroit, 23. and this is the air mass that's headed in our direction. and those people up there, jumping in that water this morning, international falls of minnesota right now is minus 10. fargo is minus 13. and this is by far the coldest air that we have seen so far this season and it is draining in our direction. the setup, big area of low pressure for them up to the northeast of us, it'll be intensifying. and a strong arctic high pressure system, coming in from canada. and it will be not intensifying, but moving in our direction. and there will be a squeeze play going on right here. and so we're going to end up getting a lot of wind out of this. and the cold air, they settle in. so all weekend long, we're
5:49 pm
talking about cold temperatures, below normal. and very windy conditions. and tomorrow, that will be the windiest. but it is still going to stay windy, even on sunday, okay? and so here is your weekend forecast. and tomorw's high temperature, 30 degrees. but don't worry about. that because with the windchill values tomorrow, it'll feel like it's in the teens and the 20s. and brutally cold out there tomorrow night. 20 degrees in the city. but we'll have temperatures in the teens out in the suburbs. the winds are just going to blow all night long. sunday, it'll stay cold, high temperature, only 31 degrees. but with the winds at 15 to 20. and on sunday, it'll still feel like it's in the teens in the 20s. so very, very cold. the only difference on sunday, it looks like we'll have more sunshine out there. as the cold air comes across, it's generating some snow. and over the next several days, there will be a lot of snow out there, back out into the western regions for the mountains. especially those western facing slopes, okay? the winter storm warning is out there that will provide 5 to 10 inches of snow. we had a little bit of this
5:50 pm
come across. just a couple of reports, a little bit of the right wing, maybe lite pellets out there. moving through, nothing that we have to worry about. and that safety future cast, this is tomorrow night at 5:00. windy, cold, with some sunshine. and again, they will feel like they are in the teens and the 20s. it'll stay like that right on through the weekend. here's all the snow back out to the west of us. and where it will be accumulating to five to ten inches of snowfall for them. so these counties in the pink here, and they are way out west. pack out into extreme western sections of virginia and in west virginia. and anywhere between 5 to 10 inches of snow. and that is late tomorrow night and through the first part of the day on sunday. where that snow will accumulate. so here is your forecast for tomorrow. 26 degrees for them at 8 a.m. we'll get some sunshine. t we'll have the clouds too. and i might mention that there could be a passing snowflake or two for them coming from wes to east with all the strong winds over the mountains, okay?
